‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again’

At school pick-up, Ryan Tan had left his bike outside Rosalie Park Primary School in Shenton Park for only 90 seconds when a thief struck. That afternoon, Sergeant Pat Kelly and Constable Jack Drew from Wembley Police apprehended a thief in Subiaco who had stolen a bike an hour earlier.

Ryan had not heard of Bikelinc when his bike was stolen, but a member of the school community recommended he create a profile and load the bike on anyway. Ryan had kept the original purchase docket with the bike’s serial number and by 5:30pm had uploaded his bike and set the status to ‘stolen’.

Unbeknown to Ryan, the Wembley Police had searched for his bike on Bikelinc soon after processing the thief at the station, but without success. Thanks to their persistence, at 6:30pm they searched again and by this time Ryan had loaded his bike on – they got a hit! The Police contacted Ryan through the Bikelinc system and soon after he was happily reunited with his bike and – importantly – his house keys in the bag attached to the bike.
